Insight Acupressure
Acupressure is a highly effective and safe system of touch, which can be traced back thousands of years. Thumb and finger pressure is used on acupuncture points (no needles!) to activate and balance the body's own energy systems, known as meridians. Once these energy channels are clear and balanced, the body naturally returns to a healthy state. Acupressure can address a wide range of physical conditions as well as promoting relaxation and wellbeing.
Jackie May is qualified as a Practitioner and Instructor in Insight Acupressure a method developed by Dr Aminah Raheem, PhD, which works in a unique way, raising conscious awareness (insight), reprogramming old patterns, releasing trauma, and restoring whole being health. There are two branches to Insight Acupressure (Clinical Acupressure & Process Acupressure) which can be used separately, or combined during a session. Both are given with the client lying fully clothed on a massage table.
Clinical Acupressure (CA)
CA is derived from traditional acupressure and uses touch on specific point combinations to release and rebalance the way energy flows through the body. It addresses common symptoms and many health conditions easily and effectively, with no harsh side effects.
Clinical Acupressure can be used for self-care or for others, and can also be combined with other complementary therapies, as well as being used in conjunction with medical treatment.
Process Acupressure (PA)
PA uses the same method of touch on specific acupressure points, while working at a deeper level to support the recipient in accessing their own inner wisdom.
Our physical bodies hold the archives of our lives. Process Acupressure is specifically designed to bring consciousness/insight into any symptom, to facilitate awareness of the possible causes and means of releasing these. It addresses whole being health - mind, body, emotions and spirit.
Acupressure Workshops and Training
Dates/times can be found on the Joyous Isle website, which is regularly updated as new courses are added.
Free guided Zoom sessions for self-care
Monthly sessions at 4pm on Sundays. During a session, Jackie leads participants through a sequence of acupressure points to hold on their own bodies, designed to work with a specific symptom or condition. The sessions are very relaxing and provide a beneficial still point within a busy day. Each session is around 20-30 minutes and participants receive an email handout showing the points used in the session, so they can use it for themselves afterwards.
Zoom Webinars
These are longer sessions (around 1 ½ hours) The sessions will start with a Pyramid Meditation, and will include a guided self-care acupressure release, and also a session of Chakra Tai Chi. We will be using Awareness Journalling and Body Mapping as well. These classes are all open to anyone - no need to have any experience or to have attended before. Suggested donation £10 per session.

Process Acupressure 1A: Foundations
Total 24 hours (4 days)
Process Acupressure (PA) is a simple, yet profound, holistic method that combines traditional acupressure (to a fully-clothed body) with a process approach to consciousness. It facilitates healing and the natural growth process that arises from within the individual. Process skills are taught that facilitate clarity - in mind, emotions, and spirit. Soul centred development is emphasized. Although acupressure is a lifelong study, this course will empower you to work effectively with energy flow in the body including both meridians and chakras, toward greater balance. You will learn tools that give you confidence. PA can be used alone for self-help or easily given to another. It can also be combined with another body modality. For example, our work with the Great Central Channel strengthens the energetic pathway of the spine and is an excellent complement to Acupuncture, Chiropractic, CranioSacral Therapy, Massage Therapy, rehab modalities, and more.
In this course you will learn:
- a simple but powerful acupressure method to balance body energy
- how to combine bodywork with psychological-spiritual process skills
- how to empower self and client toward greater understanding and responsibility for health and growth
- to focus health and development in the most fundamental strength and wisdom of one's own soul
- how to use the skills on yourself to further your own growth
- Chakra Tai Chi
